I love how she is grooming herself! Beeautiful filming, Kate! I witnessed this when I saved the bee (you've read my poem about the bee). But I didn't think to film her while she was removing the water from her 'fur'! Precious!
Thanks, Jeannine! I got really lucky and just happened to be passing by at exactly the right time! Last year, I also filmed a honeybee who got wet drying herself on an allium. ;-) <3 Too precious!
Fabulous video of a gorgeous bumble! Yes I’ve seen lots too and am hopeful that this will be a better year for bees, butterflies and dragonflies. Fingers crossed 🤞
Thanks, Linda! Isn't she wonderful? <3 I saw some dragonflies yesterday for the first time this year, not in my orchard, but along a canal not far away. I was thrilled to see them!
I saw about five or six, and tried to take some pics, but in about fifteen shots I didn't manage to capture a single one. :-D Thanks for the link - will go and read now!
They are not easy! In flight almost impossible. Sometimes I get lucky and they perch somewhere awhile. I was wearing blue on Sunday and the white- faced darters were landing all over me! Can't photograph them from that angle, but was an experience.
It became genuinely hilarious in my orchard last year how many pics I took of empty space where a dragonfly had been a moment earlier. :-D The darters were relatively easy and I got lots of pics, quite a lot of them on my hand, but the hawkers were impossible except on the rare occasions where they rested on my wall for a few moments and I sneaked up on them. ;-D How wonderful to have them landing on you! It's an amazing experience.
Tidy, hard-working little ladies! We should all admire them.
Most definitely, Tom! Wonderful little creatures.
Reminds me of…me in the morning.
:-D
Yes as a bee I must look awesome
:-)

Glad you’ve seen some dragonflies! I get so excited when I see them! I’ve just read this by David Knowles about dragonflies. It’s wonderfu! https://open.substack.com/pub/davidknowles/p/for-the-record?r=8k7ry&utm_medium=ios
